THE HISTORY OF PIETTA REPLICAS
In 1964 began the challenge recreating weapons from the American War of Secession, in response to a specific request from a French customer. “It was,” Giuseppe Pietta recalls, “a gamble that immediately turned into a concrete development opportunity for the company. Given the success, especially in the U.S., of the first proposed weapon, the Colt 1851 Navy, we have marketed other popular models, such as the Colt 1860 Army, the 1858 Remington New Model Army the Spiller & Burr and the Le Mat, which won the prestigious ‘best weapon of the year’ award in 1985 from the American National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers.
